Cherry Mother’s Day Dessert

Usually, I try to post recipes before holidays to try to give ideas about what to make for the upcoming meals.  But this recipe I didn’t learn about until Mother’s day, so better late than never.  My daughter surprised me on Mother’s day by making this delicious dessert.  Just like the rest of the recipes on our site, these are easy!

Cherry Mother’s Day Dessert

Ingredients:

1 Package Thawed Puff Pastry

1 Can Cherry Pie Filling(Or any other flavor you like)

2 Tbs Melted Butter

Pre-heat the oven to 350.  Carefully unfold the puff pastry dough and use a cookie cutter(my daughter used a heart-shaped cutter) and cut out as many  as you can.  Next, spoon the pie filling on half the puff pastry shapes and cover with your remaining shapes. The amount this recipe will make depends on the size of your cookie cutter.  Now brush the top of the puff pastry with the melted butter.  Place all the puff pastries on a cookies sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until the tops are slightly brown.

Yogurt Fruit Smoothie

After school, my kids are always hungry for a snack.  I try to make them a snack that will hold them over until dinner.    Usually, this will consist of some fruit or maybe some crackers and cheese.  A favorite of theirs is Yogurt Fruit Smoothies.  This fills them up and is not only great after school but great in the morning as well.

Yogurt Fruit Smoothie

Ingredients:

2 Cups of Yogurt(your favorite kind)

1 Banana

1 Cup of Fresh or Frozen Strawberries(sliced)

1/4 Cup of Fresh or Frozen Blueberries

1 Tbs. Granulated Sugar

1/4 Cup Milk

1 Cup Ice Cubes

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.  That is it! The best part about this recipe is that you can add any additional fruits that you like or take out any fruits you don’t like. We have tried several different flavor combinations and we have even added green tea just for an extra boost.
